The "Back-to-School" Campaign is for children in schools in rural Kerala.

The Ashoka Tree is an NGO that works in the early childhood education sector, so all children someday get equal rights to read, play and live. The pandemic has created a wider divide between children who have had regular online school for two years and those who have not.

This means children with two years of no regular education, don't just find it difficult to stay in school, they can barely get there. Kerala has seen unprecedented rain this year, beginning last month, and with the monsoons continuing, a lot of children don't have umbrellas to walk under to school or proper school bags to carry their books in.

Our collection of umbrellas and school bags will be handed over to each child who needs one, helping them take that first step to school - a step that otherwise seems so daunting.

About the NGO:The Ashoka Tree is a Registered Charitable Trust started by Reethika Kuruvilla back in 2015.What began as a simple endeavor to donate books and toys now covers a wider range of activities from infrastructure work in Anganwadis to webinars and physical training for teachers on soft skills and mental wellbeing as well as building libraries and providing nutritional kits for children and expectant mothers who are malnourished.
