Save these HIV Positive Children from Corona Virus

If you’ve seen the news lately, you would probably know how dangerous Corona Virus is. The disease started out with a case reported from Wuhan in December, 2019. The disease rapidly spread across the globe and is now declared a pandemic. 

Children who come from well-to-do homes, have means of good hygiene. They are educated with various hygienic habits and have the necessary supplies. However, there are hundreds of children who lack the means to have a hygienic life. 

India has horrible statistics when it comes to HIV. In India, a whopping 2.1 million individuals suffer from HIV. A large segment of them are women. Children born to HIV positive mothers have a huge risk of testing HIV positive at birth. 30% of these children are HIV positive right from their birth. Additional 8% are infected with HIV within the first few years after they are born. 

Children affected by HIV have a weak immune system. As the disease progresses, their immune system weakens them. They are prone to getting affected by dangerous diseases like the Corona Virus. The Corona Virus is known for affecting those who have poor hygiene or a weak immune system. These children do not have the hygiene supplies to take care of themselves. 

Snehalaya, an NGO established to provide support for HIV affected women, children and LGBT communities take these women and children to give them the required care and hygiene. With education, awareness and grassroots outreach as the main objectives, Snehalaya caters to around 15,000 beneficiaries (both HIV mothers and children) every year. Operating in Ahmednagar, they are united in the belief that HIV affected people, especially children shouldn't stand alone.

Snehalaya wants the affected children to have a basic hygiene routine. Donate a Hygiene kit and stop these small children from getting Corona Virus.
