    Project

India is a country that has flourishing cities like Jaipur where there are many opportunities for the labour workforce. With many segments of the corporate world competing for growth, the development in the pink city, Jaipur thrives on their workforce. Not the salaried employees who’re on corporate payrolls inside their swanky offices, but the labourers who carry sand, bricks, and mortar to bring these skyscrapers to life.

The Corona pandemic damaged the already-hurt economy but has sent these daily wage workers into an abyss. An overnight lockdown crippled them from earning their wages and are suffering from starvation.

"We don’t know how we’re going to survive. The lockdown has been extended and our lives are at stake. Our families are suffering.”,

said Ram, a builder from Jaipur.

Corona pandemic has thousands of daily wage workers struggling to feed their families amidst this crisis. While the government has been working tremendously hard to distribute ration and food packets in Jaipur thousands of families are still in need. These daily wage workers are the ones who laid our roads, built our bridges, built our houses and buildings, repaired our sewers, cleaned our trash and have done jobs that we ourselves would never do, to make our life easier.

Today, they’re suffering. Their children are going to bed, hungry. Their wives are starving. The little rice and groceries that we give aren’t mere grains of food, they’re grains of hope to them.

Without any work and daily wages, these workers are suffering. It’s not only the construction workers but also the domesticated helpers, push-cart vendors, street vendors, masons, painters and the list goes on. It’s been days since these families have eaten properly. Their children are starving. Daily wage workers live in deplorable conditions. It’s not right for them to starve during this lockdown. This lockdown should be beneficial to everyone.

Jaipur,  the daily wage workers in our city are struggling to survive. Their families are stranded on the roads in the scorching heat. Their children are crying for food. They need you to come out and save them.

Pure India Trust is an NGO that has been battling the Corona crisis by distributing grocery kits to over 300 families from under-served communities. They will be distributed through their centres at Jagatpura, Vaishali Nagar and Ajmer Road in Jaipur. They have more than 150 volunteers who helped over 6000 students across India.

These grocery kits that you donate to can help feed a family for four days. You can start by helping them with as little as you can.
