“Animals love unconditionally. They’re God’s gift. They’re there for you without judgement or malice and are pure at heart. Humans love with so many pre conditions. And yet, animals are treated with so much cruelty. Probably Paradise is a place where these animals can live and die with dignity. It’s where they can find the love and care they deserve.” - Roxanne Davur, Founder, Probably Paradise

Roxanne Davur (68) started Probably Paradise on Christmas eve in 2011 - a home for abandoned, chronically ill, injured and old animals. Ever since then, hundreds of animals have found a safe home on this 1.5 acre farm in Karjat, Maharashtra. Roxanne continues to save the lives of these voiceless souls. But she can’t do it alone any longer.

Roxanne’s Love For Animals Goes Back To Her Childhood

Roxanne was only a little girl when she saw her father rescuing street dogs. He would bring them back home and care for them along with Roxanne and his wife. That’s when it all began for her. She then went on to work in sales and the airline industry, before quitting her job to start an animal shelter in Ooty in 2000 called Terra Anima Trust. She was an honorary Animal Welfare Inspector for the Nilgiris and conducted rescue missions.

“I then moved back to Karjat and started Probably Paradise. We get most of our rescues from Mumbai and Pune - some of them are injured, some abandoned and left to die on the streets, some with chronic illnesses and some are very old. Our gates are open to all these animals and I love spending my days with them.”

Roxanne along with her small team of 14 currently look after 324 dogs, 200 cats, 2 horses, 8 ponies, 7 donkeys, a cow and a pig.

“We take into account the various dietary requirements these animals have, their medical care and what they need on a day to day basis. It’s different for all animals, and we want to leave no stone unturned in giving them the best life.”

    However, Roxanne Faces Challenges

Despite the vast resources required to run the place, Roxanne is trying everything she can to give these animals the best care. Unfortunately, it’s not easy. Over 400 animals need special attention. Roxanne now needs your help to get food and medicines for the animals.

Your support will ensure hundreds of helpless animals get the food and medicines they need to survive. Roxanne has dedicated her life to rescuing these voiceless souls, and you can join her in this noble cause.
