Give Charity To The Elderly By Supporting Mark

    Project

It is sad how elderlies are considered a burden in our society. They are our assets. Having lost my mother at an early age, I know the significance of a mother’s love and how it can shape your life. I have decided to dedicate my life to the elderlies and give them a happy and comfortable life,” - Mark D’Souza.

63-year-old Mark, who is a Borivali resident, has made it his life’s mission to feed hundreds of elderlies who are alone. Not all of them are poor but most of them don’t have anyone to look after them. Others are ill and handicapped. For the last 9 years, Mark has been delivering dabbas to each of them at their doorstep, free of cost.

A simple thought soon transformed into a full-fledged plan

“When I told my wife,Yvonne, that I wanted to do something for the elderly, she immediately supported my wish. She gave me Rs 5,000 that she had saved up and I remember her saying, ‘start tomorrow’,” - Mark.

And thus started Mark’s journey of delivering home-cooked meals to the senior citizens in and around where he lived. What started with just a handful of people, soon grew into a bigger network. Many reached out to him saying that they need his help to look after their parents while they were overseas because of work.

And Mark made sure to send these elderlies food that would suit their medical needs and yet be tasty and nutritious. Sometimes D’Souza also packs ice cream or sweets. On Sundays, he includes chicken or fish.

“I keep changing the menu so they don’t have to eat the same food over and over. The dabba is sufficient for three meals. It gives me peace to think that they are sleeping on a full stomach.”

Mark didn’t deter from his service even during the worst days of the pandemic. He himself delivered the dabbas to all those elderlies who waited for him and his support.

Now, with your help, Mark can continue his good work

Mark and Yvonne have been using up their savings to carry on this social service. But it is getting more and more difficult by the day. You can donate groceries to help this 63-year-old who is working relentlessly to give a better life to the senior citizens.

So many people are dependent on us and I don’t want to disappoint them. In fact, I want to reach out to many more in need. With your support, I can do that.”
