Project
Every day, our soldiers make incredible sacrifices to ensure the peace and prosperity of our nation. Their unwavering conviction stems from the confidence that their families support their passion for serving the country. Among these families, the VeerNaris—the brave wives of our fallen soldiers—bear the heaviest burden. These women endure immense loss and continue to live with that sacrifice every single day.
In the heartbreaking event of a soldier's martyrdom, the families left behind face a world of distress and uncertainty. This is where the VeerNari Shakti Resettlement Foundation (VSRF) steps in.
They help turn their lifelong pain into something meaningful and filled with purpose
For the past 21 years, VSRF has been dedicated to supporting the veer naris of our martyred soldiers across 11 armed forces. Established in the aftermath of the Kargil War (Operation Vijay) in 1999, the foundation has been a pillar of strength to over 7 lakh families. They have facilitated psychological and rehabilitation services for martyr widows (war widows, battle casualty, and physical casualty widows), disabled soldiers, and disabled dependents of soldiers from all Indian Armed Forces and CAPF.
“The pain and loss they experience upon receiving such devastating news is unimaginable. Nothing can truly prepare them for it. Coming from small villages and towns across India, their lives were dedicated to serving their families. Suddenly, they are thrust into a harsh reality. They lose not only their life partners but also their primary source of financial support and their social standing,” - Prashant, VSRF.
The organisation provides immediate grief and psychological first-aid counseling to help VeerNaris and their families cope with their loss and regain stability. Their skilled team then empowers the VeerNaris with skills and knowledge to lead respectable and independent lives.
Finally, they assist them in navigating bureaucratic processes to ensure they receive their rightful dues.
“I was born and raised in an army family, where I witnessed firsthand the unwavering dedication of the mothers and wives. Despite facing numerous challenges, they never hesitated to send their loved ones to serve the nation. This inspired me to work for these incredible women, ensuring they live the dignified lives they truly deserve."
This Independence Day you can support this noble cause and stand with the VeerNaris
As we celebrate the spirit of freedom, let us also remember our responsibility to the families of our fallen heroes. Every single martyr family is our family—it is the nation’s family. It is our duty to support them in their time of need. Join hands with VSRF and help them carry forward the legacy of determination and sacrifice.
They are in urgent need of a hearse van to transport the bodies of martyrs to their homes in remote areas, ensuring they receive the respect and honor they deserve. Besides this, they also need laptops to train the VeerNaris and to help them rebuild their lives. Your kindness can make a world of difference.
