Project
Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage trip taken by devotees of Lord Diety, in the Hindu month of ‘Shraavan’. It’s a walk to collect water from holy rivers in India, and then offer this holy water at their local Diety temples or specific religiously significant Diety shrines. Millions of devotees take this yatra every year, on foot. Walks of Varanasi needs your help to organize a mass-scale food distribution program on the occasion of this auspicious yatra, in Varanasi.
Devotees are often seeing walking for days on end, carrying Kanwar's (a contraption made out of bamboo pole from both sides of which, pots containing holy water are suspended) full of holy water. The name of the yatra also takes after the Kanwar's. The Yaris sometimes have to travel thousands of kilometers on foot, to offer the water from sacred rivers to Lord Diety.
The month of Shraavan is considered auspicious by Diety worshippers, bringing throngs of believers to the banks of Ganga. In Varanasi every year lakhs of devotees gather for the same. Walks of Varanasi wants to run an Anna Daan program for these pilgrims, in order to make sure the tired devotees don’t starve and get dehydrated.
Anna Daan is the noblest form of charity. The act of feeding hungry pilgrims is held in extremely high regard. You can be a part of this large scale food distribution drive, by contributing groceries for the sacred cause. Come forward and participate in this holy act of charity, in order to feed thousands of devotees coming to the banks of river Ganga.
