Sudeekshan Foundation Needs Your Support To Help Hundreds Of People With Visual Impairment

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

More than 30% of India’s population suffers from visual impairment. Over 62 million people in India are visually impaired, of which 8 million are visually challenged. Among these, about 2 million are children within the age group of 3 to 15 years.

Their struggles are innumerable - even the simplest tasks sometimes pose a hurdle for them. To make matters worse, they face discrimination every step of the way. Society is still not kind to our challenged brothers and sisters.

This organisation in Andhra Pradesh is working to help more and more visually challenged people

Founded by Vimala Chigurupati, this Sudheekshan Foundation is a Non-profit social service organization established in the memory of Chigurupati Sudheekshan, who lost his life in a road accident at the tender age of 20 years. The foundation now works tirelessly to spread awareness about road traffic accidents and how to prevent those. Their vision is to create a knowledgeable society by spreading education and road safety awareness.

The Foundation also conducts regular medical camps in rural areas with the support of local doctors and hospitals and impacts the lives of around 150-200 every time. They mainly focus on eye treatment for the slum kids. Screening tests are conducted in slums and various government schools. They provide spectacles to children in need, all free of cost. Over 20,000 children were screened in various government schools in the Diety district of Andhra Pradesh.

“These people are so poor that often they ignore their health - they don’t have a choice. They can’t afford daily meals how will they afford to undergo surgeries or even buy a pair of spectacles? We have been arranging free cataract operations for the old and the suffering. We provide them with Vitamin A pills to help them with their eyesight. We also educate people about the benefits of eye donation,” - Smt. Vimala Chigurupati, Founder of Sudeekshan Foundation.

The Foundation has also been setting up a free eye check-up stall in Vijayawada region, for 45 days, every summer. They are also visiting schools near by and conducting check ups for children. Apart from helping the poor with medicines, spectacles, and surgeries, they want to feed the people visiting the camps. But they need your support to carry out all these activities.

    How can you help

Vimala is appealing to all of you to come forward and support them by donating spectacles, medicines, and groceries. Sudeekshan Foundation wants to reach out to as many people as they can, they wish to be a ray of hope for the visually challenged - and with your timely support they can. You can donate spectacles, medicines, groceries, etc for them.

Donate now and make a difference in hundreds of lives - creating an impact has never been this easy!
