Thousands Of Sadhus Call These Holy Places Home
Due to the great significance of these Dhams, thousands of sadhus find a safe home here where they can spend their days in prayer and meditation. However, it is no secret that the pandemic has been especially difficult for these sadhus who rely on others for their survival. Even today, their struggle hasn’t ended.

“Before the pandemic, sadhus would get food from the tourists and pilgrims, but with the lockdowns, they lost their only means of survival. They have no belongings, no family ties, and no savings. They’ve given up everything in the name of their faith, and sometimes have to get by with barely anything to eat. It’s our duty to help them as much as we can.” - Sundar Prabhuji

Pure Devotion Foundation, an NGO based out of Rajasthan, has been instrumental in providing food for sadhus and widows in Vrindavan ever since the beginning of the pandemic. Along with their work in Vrindavan, they have impacted countless lives in Puri and Yamunotri as well.
The Temple Workers Are Suffering Too
The temples of Kedarnath and Badrinath are rich in history and culture. Hindu legend says that the Kedarnath temple was first built by the Pandavas and is one of the holiest shrines of Lord Diety. The Badrinath temple is said to have one of the eight self-manifested deities of Lord Vishnu. Several people working in these temples and serving the deities continue to suffer. Unable to afford even meals on some days, these temple workers just don’t have the means to make it on their own.
