Support Team Nivesh To Help The People Of Dharamsala During the The Devastating Flash Floods
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
Project
Dharamsala, the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh, has been hit by flash floods after heavy rains on the nights of July 11 and 12, 2021. The plight of the people is appalling as heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc here. There is loss, chaos and helplessness everywhere as people fear the worst about their loved ones.
The NGO, Nivesh, is helping those affected by the flash floods in Dharamsala by rebuilding their homes. They need your support to help as many people in need as possible.
The situation on ground:
Multiple videos have been circulating including one by the Station House Officer of McLeodganj showing visuals of the Bhagsu Nag nullah frothing with muddy water. Vehicles have been damaged and so are the hotels in the area.
The Indian Meteorological Department website showed that Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, where Dharamsala is located, recorded actual rainfall of 79.4 millimetres, whereas the normal is 21.2 mm. This is 275 percent more than the normal level.
Although the exact number of casualties is still unknown, as of now one woman was reportedly killed and many more are missing. Also, about a dozen vehicles were swept away and many buildings either gave in or were damaged in flash floods in various parts of Kangra district as bad weather also led to the closure of the Gaggal airport. Alerts have been issued in the entire area.
The current need & how you can help:
Many houses and hotels have been affected and properties have been damaged. Tourism, a major industry for the state, has been hampered very badly as well. 100 families, comprising about 400 people have been displaced, their homes completely washed away. They are on the streets having lost every item of their household.
The need is that of ration kits, tents, tarpaulin, blankets, daris, sheets, pillows, mattresses, folding beds, chappals, toothpaste, tooth brush, soap, buckets, mugs & basic utensils, to not just protect the people from the bitter cold and rain but also help rebuild their lives. NGO, Nivesh wants to do its bit to help the people in need in Dharamsala.
Nivesh was started in 2006 to support education, water and sanitation, culture and animal welfare across India. Mohit Chauhan, chief patron of the NGO, has been actively helping people and animals since the beginning of the pandemic along with team Nivesh. They have been actively helping people and animals since the beginning of the pandemic. They have been feeding more than 150 stray animals in Delhi every day, installed more than 100 drinking water pots and food bowls across various locations in parks, and provided medical treatment to the wounded. They have also been working very hard to provide oxygen cylinders, concentrators, masks etc to people in dire need.
We can join hands with Nivesh to stand beside Dharamsala in this hour of need and help them get blankets and tarpaulin to protect them from these flash floods. Your support will help them stand on their own feet again.
