Help This Rare Condition Survivor Feed Slum Children

Sometimes an unfortunate event can be the starting point of a new journey. This was the case for Anchal Sharma. The daughter of a humble auto-rickshaw driver, Anchal grew up in poverty after her father unfairly lost his job. In order to support her family, Anchal and her brother were forced to leave school and start working. Through sheer determination and hard work, Anchal built a better life for her family.

All was well until just after Anchal’s 32nd birthday when she discovered a lump and was diagnosed with stage 3 breast rare condition. Always a fighter, Anchal didn’t despair or give up. 

She underwent gruelling chemotherapy and other treatments for 11 months. It was during this time that she encountered children begging on the road and instead of giving them money, she decided to feed them. 

Speaking to them, Anchal learnt of their hard lives and how sometimes they would starve for days. She decided to start distributing meals to poor children. She discovered that this was her life’s purpose and this gave her the strength to defeat rare condition.

Anchal started an NGO called ‘Meals of Happiness Charitable Trust’ in order to continue her mission. She started by cooking the food herself and visiting slums to distribute them and now her efforts have resulted in over 20 lakh meals served. 

If we want to create a better world, we have to help each other in times of need. Anchal truly believes that every individual can make a fruitful change in the world and make life better for those around us.

Currently, Anchal serves approximately 300 meals to poor slum children. These children would often starve without her. Their families are poor and can’t take care of them. Many are abandoned and left to fend for themselves. With your help, Anchal can feed up to 500 children a day. About The Organisation:

Meals of Happiness (MoH) is an NGO that provides free food to underprivileged children across Delhi and Gurugram every day. The NGO was started by Anchal Sharma, a rare condition survivor who dedicated her life to helping the underprivileged and the under-served communities. Till now, they’ve served up to 20 lakh meals.
