Neha hasn’t been able to hold her baby yet.

“I see him through the glass, wrapped in tubes and wires, her voice trembling. “I just want him to open his eyes and see that his Ma is here, praying for him every moment. But I don’t know if he can hear my prayers over the relentless beeping of the machines connected to his fragile body trying to keep him alive.” - Neha, mother

Her unborn baby stopped receiving blood in the womb

In the seventh month of pregnancy, Neha’s blood pressure spiraled dangerously high. Despite multiple hospitalizations, the young couple tried to remain hopeful but the complications kept worsening until the final warning came as a huge blow to them - their baby had stopped receiving blood in the womb.

The machines keep him alive in the NICU, but his tiny body struggles to bear the pain

“The doctor said if they didn’t operate immediately, we’d lose him so they rushed me to perform an emergency C-section. I didn’t care what happened to me. I just wanted my baby to be safe,”  -Neha recalls

Born prematurely at seven months, their son merely weighed 800 grams. He was immediately placed in the NICU, battling underdeveloped organs. His lungs struggled to breathe and early-onset sepsis added to his already critical condition.

Juggling work and debt, this father strength is crumbling under the weight of financial burdens

Siddharth, a local ironworker, juggles gruelling shifts starting at 6 a.m. to make ends meet to arrange INR 4 lakhs for the NICU costs. “I just want my baby to know that his Baba is doing everything he can to keep him alive.”

Every day in the NICU is a small fortune, and his savings are long gone. His day begins with borrowing money to pay for medicines, transportation, and even the basics to keep his wife nourished, who is still recovering from her emergency cesarean.

There are days I don’t even have Rs. 200 for the bus to the hospital,I walk miles just to save that money for my wife and baby. How do you choose between food for your wife and medicine for your child? I wish I could be a worthy husband and father both.”- Siddharth confesses.

His voice breaks as he shares his fears. “I wanted to be the kind of father my own never was. My mother is gone, and my father stopped speaking to me years ago. I’ve spent my whole life wanting to be better for my child. But now, I can’t even afford to keep him alive.”

Their prayers are constant - for their baby to just open his eyes soon

Neha’s health is frail, but her determination is unyielding. Against her doctors’ advice for bed rest, she insists on being near the NICU, desperate for even a glimpse of her child.

Staring through the NICU glass at the tiny fighter they’ve named their miracle. “We had so many dreams for him. We were going to decorate the house, throw a big celebration…but now, all we pray for is his survival. We just hope he knows that even if we can’t hold him right now, we’re holding onto hope. We’re fighting for him.” - Siddharth, father

The couple has exhausted everything - money, strength, even hope is beginning to waver

Our baby is a fighter,” Siddharth pleads, his voice trembling with both pride and pain. “We’re begging for help, he’s our first child, our only child. But he needs more time. And we can’t do this alone. Please help us give him the chance to open his eyes and see the parents who love him more than anything in this world.

The couple’s dreams of welcoming their child have been replaced with a single hope—that he will survive. These parents, who would give everything, including their own lives, to save him, now need your support.
