She was born with several difficulties, including PRETERM (premature birth), PPHN (persistent pulmonary hypertension), RDS (respiratory distress syndrome), and LBW (low birth weight). Her X-ray also showed a small hole in her heart. She has been in the NICU incubator ever since, receiving daily medical care and oxygen assistance. She showed signs of improvement, since she was previously unable to breathe on her own but can now do it for brief periods of time without oxygen. It's a step forward, but her chances of survival remain uncertain. Doctors said that she would require at least one month in the NICU, and that without further care and maybe an operation, her chances of survival will be substantially reduced. The procedure costs ₹5,00,000.

Somya's mother Mehak is 22 years old, and her father Rajesh is 25. He works as a cook in a small village kitchen in Haridwar. They have no insurance, no family to rely on, and no remaining savings.
