11-Year-Old Suffering From Cancer, Pleads To Take Him Home

Anshdeep, a bright and cheerful 11-year-old, was leading a happy life with his family until a month ago. He developed a high fever that wouldn't go away. Worried, his parents sought medical help. Even after several visits to the hospital, the fever persisted. Soon, a blood test revealed that Anshdeep was suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a type of blood cancer.

Their world was shattered upon diagnosis

“When we heard the word 'cancer,' our world shattered. All we heard about this disease is that it takes people away, and even the thought of losing our child is…just a few days ago, our little boy was running around and playing with his sisters, and now he has Cancer?” -Surinder Kaur, mother

B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells. This young boy needs chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to survive.

The family is split into two

Anshdeep’s father, Satpal Singh, works as a construction labourer, earning just 300 rupees daily, while his mother, Surinder Kaur Devi, is a housewife. Satpal’s earnings are the main source of income, without which they can’t even afford that day’s meals. Hence, Satpal is back at their village with his younger daughter (14), going for work and sending money to Surinder and Daljit (elder daughter), who are taking care of Anshdeep’s treatment. 

“It’s been just over a month, and he has lost so much weight. The never-ending energy that he had is gone now, and he barely gets up to do anything. He is too young to understand what is happening to him and pleads in his weak voice to take him back home, and that is what I want too- to take him home safe with the rest of the family.” -Surinder Kaur, mother

They desperately need your help

Anshdeep’s treatment requires a week of chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant. The road ahead is long and painful, and without timely treatment, his chances of survival are very slim.
