6-year old Ritika’s abdomen swelled so drastically that strangers stared.

“She is 6…but her stomach looked like a pregnant woman. People in the hospital whispered, ‘How can a child’s belly be this big?’ I wish I could tell them how a rare Wilson’s Disease is eating her liver alive?” - Tutan, father

The doctors said only one thing could save her and they got that but still she is critical

Doctors suspected jaundice. Weeks passed and her condition worsened. And then a month later came the diagnosis of Wilson’s Disease, a rare genetic disorder that floods the liver with copper until the organ collapses.Ritika could only be saved with a liver transplant.

In January 2025, when Ritika received her transplant, everyone believed the worst was behind them

The cost of surgery, hospitalization and medicines went up to Rs.15-20 lakhs. Tutan sold their small house, jewellery and emptied every saving. Even borrowed money with interest that would take a lifetime to repay.

“They asked who the donor would be. I didn’t even blink. I told the doctors, ‘If my liver can save her, take all of it. Take whatever you need. But don’t take my only child away from me.’” - Tutan, father

But the tragedy still wasn’t over.

Without treatment, her transplanted liver, the piece of her father inside her, may fail

After donating part of his liver, he needs medical tests for his own health, but he refuses to spend a single rupee on himself.

“What’s the point of healing myself if I lose her? She is my life.” - Tutan, father

He was fired from his job at a grocery store that at least gave him Rs.10,000 monthly because he kept taking leaves to be beside his only daughter’s hospital bed.

They are now penniless, exhausted and terrified. The battle has one last number of Rs.6 lakhs to keep Ritika alive with infection control, medicines and hospitalization.

After losing his job, this father just wants to return the childhood his girl deserves

“We just want to see her go to school. Tie her hair. Pack her tiffin. We want to see her in playgrounds…not hospitals.”- Sumpe, mother

Donatekart is helping them raise funds, but without your support, they may not be able to continue her treatment and stopping it is not an option.

Please help Ritika fight. Your donation can keep her alive.
