“I remember holding my niece close, trying to shield her with my body, but the acid had already done its job,” Daulat says, her voice heavy with sorrow. “I wasn’t the only one who suffered that night. My little niece - just one year old - became a victim of a hatred I never deserved.”
Her family tried to silence her with acid while justice failed her
At just 26, Daulat's world crumbled. Her own sister and brother-in-law, fueled by vengeance and unchecked rage, threw acid on her face. The attack left her with 70% burns, a permanently disfigured face, and vision loss in one eye. Her ears still ring with an unending pain, a cruel reminder of that night.
But the cruelty didn’t end there. The justice system that was meant to protect her failed her entirely. Daulat was divorced by her husband when she was only 21 because of giving birth to 3 daughters. For 15 years, Daulat has lived in fear, keeping her daughters locked away, ensuring they never step outside alone.
Before the attack, Daulat worked as a makeup artist. She had dreams, ambitions, and hope. But the moment her face was taken from her, so was her career.
“I walked into my workplace with bandages and scars, thinking they’d still see me for who I was. But all they saw was my face. They said, ‘In this profession, you have to be beautiful. We’re sorry, but we can’t keep you.’
With no education and no other skills, Daulat refused to give up. She tried to work as a cook. But when the family saw her, they screamed.
Begging to feed her daughters - how can she afford 7 life-changing surgeries?
Today, Daulat sits outside a mosque, begging not for herself but for the three daughters who depend on her. She has undergone 19 surgeries, spending INR 40 lakhs. But she needs 7 more - plastic surgery, earlobe repair, and neck scar release. Without them, she lives in constant pain, her wounds never fully healing.
But Daulat has no money left. She needs INR 14 lakhs to get the surgeries she desperately requires.
“I want to work. I want to earn with dignity. I want my daughters to get an education and not be locked away in fear. I don’t want to beg anymore.”
Join Daulat’s fight today - she needs you
