Your Support Can Help Satish Give Orphaned & Abandoned Kids The Life They Deserve

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

Sumanth was just a young boy when he was found begging outside a temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. He was one among the many orphaned and homeless children whose futures were uncertain and whose lives were filled with pain and suffering.

“Sumanth was the first child to come to Lord Buddha Home For Children in 2005. He had lost both his parents and had nowhere to go. He’s a bright child and I remember he used to say he wanted to be a computer engineer. Today, Sumanth is going to do his Master of Science. We have so many children who’ve thrived after coming here and that’s what we hope for all kids.” - Satish Girija, Co-Founder, Lord Buddha Home For Children

Often if children like Sumanth aren’t rescued in time, they end up getting involved in various dangerous situations for no fault of theirs. These children don’t deserve a life filled with difficulties. They deserve opportunities, love and care like everyone else - and Lord Buddha Home For Children (LBHC) is where they find it.

A Strong Friendship Led To The Formation Of A Renowned Organisation

Satish Kumar met Girija Nandan in class 7 and thus began the foundation of a lifelong friendship. They decided to bring about changes in the lives of the poor and homeless and even chose to change their names to a combination of their first names. Satish and Girija’s combined visions formed Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) in 1971, one of the most renowned voluntary organizations in the country influenced by Gandhian ideology. Over the years, NBJK has established many milestones in the sector of health, education, livelihood and advocacy.

“We set up Lord Buddha Home For Children in Silounja village near Bodh Gaya under NBJK to give orphaned and homeless children a chance to find safety, love and a family again. We ensure that all the children are given an education and that all their needs are taken care of. We have children who’ve lost both their parents, some have been abandoned by their single parent, and some left with elderly grandparents who are in no position to look after them.”

The most endearing thing about the children at LBHC is that they have a very strong sense of family towards each other. They consider each other their brothers and sisters and always look out for them. The kids are ambitious, hardworking, and caring. Despite losing everything they knew, they’re resilient and haven’t lost their sense of wonder.

Today, LBHC has 52 students who are divided into different houses and looked after by one housemother each. They’re not only enrolled in good schools but also participate in extracurricular activities, get tuition and attend various classes based on the best interest of the children and to help them develop their full potential. LBHC believes in equality for all and doesn’t discriminate against any child.

Tragic Incidents Have Changed Their Lives, Give Them Hope Again

Each child at LBHC has experienced some form of loss. Tragic incidents like snake bites, accidents, depression and more have left them helpless and homeless. While everyone at LBHC goes out of their way to care for these kids, it’s not easy. Satish is struggling to afford the day-to-day requirements of these children. From food to stationery kits, everything is a challenge.

“I’ve dedicated my life to these children, but I need help to continue giving them the best life possible. Please support us in getting grocery kits, stationery and a small bus for the kids. These products will help us feed them healthy meals every day and also ensure they continue going to school.”

Your contribution will give these orphaned and abandoned children a chance to have a bright future. Donate now.
