    Project

The Holy month of Shravana which begins in July is one of the most important months for Hindus. It not only celebrates the arrival of monsoons but is also a time of worship of Lord Diety where millions of people observe fasts every week.

Every year during this time, countless pilgrims and sadhus visit Vaidyanatha Jyotirlinga Temple, also known as Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, Jharkhand - one of the most sacred abodes of Diety. They walk for 108 km to the temple and offer holy water from the Ganges to Lord Diety. This pilgrimage, also known as Kanwar Yatra, is extremely sacred and is a clear reflection of the devotion pilgrims and sadhus have.

They Haven’t Been Able To Celebrate For Over 2 Years Now

The pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns have had an adverse effect on so many lives. Thousands of sadhus were left starving with little to nothing to eat. With a halt on tourism, they went days without food. It also put numerous religious celebrations across the nation on hold. After a 2 year long wait, the pilgrims and sadhus look forward to celebrating Kanwar Yatra during Shravana maas this year. And Sanjay Pathak wants to ensure that they don’t go hungry any longer.

A farmer in Varanasi, Sanjay Pathak’s life changed five years ago. He started by feeding poor and hungry sadhus near Assi Ghat in the holy city and today started his own organization, Shivdham Trust. Ever since then, he has been feeding over 150 hungry souls every single day.

“I’ve seen these people go through some of the toughest times. The pandemic has been especially difficult for them. I’ll never forget all the blessings they gave us when we used to give them food. That’s what makes me want to continue doing this. This yatra is so important to so many people, and they haven’t been able to celebrate for over 2 years. This year, we want to ensure that no one coming to the yatra is left hungry.” - Sanjay Pathak, Founder, Shivdham Trust

You Can Help Sanjay Pathak Feed Them

A huge number of pilgrims and sadhus are expected at the Kanwar Yatra this year and Sanjay Pathak wants to provide them with healthy meals three times a day during this time. He needs your support to get grocery kits so that they can cook and distribute these meals to everyone at the yatra.

Pilgrims come from all over the country and have to walk long distances during the yatra. Fresh and healthy meals will help them greatly. Sadhus have also been struggling to get meals amid the pandemic, and your support will go a long way in ensuring they don’t starve again. Support Sanjay Pathak’s organization, Shivdham Trust to help feed thousands during Kanwar Yatra.

About Sanjay Pathak: For the last 5 years, Sanjay Pathak has been working to give the sadhus and others in need a better and more comfortable life.
