Doctors say that a mother’s touch has healing powers. If a mother holds a baby close to her, it is said that not only does an agitated baby calm down and bond with her mother but this also promotes the growth and development of premature infants and their brain development. So full of beauty, wonders and miracles is motherhood and the bond between a mother and her child. But unfortunately, not all babies in this country are fortunate enough to experience this divine connection. Countless children in this country are abandoned in the most horrific conditions. These babies wouldn’t have survived but for the arduous efforts of social activists and groups who work day and night to give these children a home.
We give these babies a second chance at life - we are their only hope
Kalaiselvi Karunalaya Social Welfare Society (KKSS) was founded in 1983 by a young zealous postgraduate, Mr. A. Purushothaman, who wanted to educate the poorest from the most marginalized communities. Now it has grown into a huge social service organization working for the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned children, the abandoned elderly, women in distress, people in gypsy communities, people addicted to substances and liquor, and victims of natural disasters in rural and urban Tamil Nadu.
KKSS has been running Angel House Children's Home in Mogappair West, Chennai. The home was founded in 2002 and is now home to more than 50 children. These babies are nurtured here till they are eventually given up for adoption to an eligible couple.
Rajani Devi tells that most of these rescued babies are preterm and need special neo-natal care to survive. While Angel Home does its best to give all of them a fighting chance, the expenses for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are skyrocketing. These babies don’t just need proper medical attention - they need nutritional food and round-the-clock care. They are susceptible to infections that can turn life-threatening. Without proper treatment, these babies might not survive.
With a little love, you can save many abandoned babies
An abandoned baby by the side of the road without a mother to care for her is a sight that brings tears to our eyes. So what can you do to make a difference? It’s simple.
Angel Home is in need of an ambulance. This will not only help them rescue more and more babies but will also save a lot of time. Timely rescues will ensure that these babies get immediate medical attention. Apart from this, they’re also in need of baby powder, diapers, and baby food which are their necessities. Your support is going to make a huge difference.
