Help This Delhi Man Feed Nourishing Meals To 1500+ People At Just Re 1

In the bustling streets of Delhi, amidst the noise and chaos, Sri Shyam Rasoi is nothing less than a beacon of hope for the hungry and the needy. Led by the compassionate Pravin Kumar Goyal, this humble initiative has been tirelessly serving meals to those in desperate need, all for the nominal sum of just Re 1. For the past five years, Pravin Kumar has dedicated his life to fighting against hunger, one meal at a time. 

Pravin's vision is simple yet profound - to provide nourishment with dignity  

Pravin still remembers the day when he saw a man beg for food - he had only ten rupees on him. While the dhaba owner flatly refused to feed this man, Pravin promptly paid for his meal and asked him to eat to his heart’s content. 

“The helplessness in his eyes turned to gratitude and I felt so happy to be able to help him. Many years have passed since that incident but the joy remains the same when I see the poor and hungry savour the meals that we serve them with so much love,” - Pravin Kumar Goyal, Founder, Shri Shyam Rasoi.  

“When we started making meals we used to charge 10 rupees, but we soon realized that even that was a big amount for a lot of people. I charge the 1 rupee so that they don’t feel like they are begging for the meal, and they don’t hesitate to come here.” 

However, many can’t even afford the 1 rupee, and Pravin Kumar welcomes them with open arms. He feeds around 1500 people full meals every day in Delhi. These meals include 3-4 kinds of vegetables, rice, roti, and a sweet. He also delivers food to old age homes, orphanages, and schools for the differently-abled.

Shri Shyam Rasoi is open 365 days a year. They are the sole respite for thousands of daily wagers, homeless people, abandoned elderly, and anyone who can’t afford proper meals. Every day thousands queue outside their kitchen and Pravin oversees this feeding drive.

About the NGO: Founded by Pravin Kumar Goyal, Shri Shyam Rasoi is a community kitchen based out of Delhi where they feed thousands of people who can’t afford a healthy meal. Together with a dedicated team, Pravin is fighting hunger and bringing back smiles on tired and hungry faces.
