They Deserve To Dream Big, Help Arbindji Empower 60+ Underprivileged Kids In Delhi Slums

For more than 20 years, the Nav Samaj Welfare Society has been a beacon of hope and the go-to place for 4000+ underprivileged kids living in the slums of Rajokri Pahari, New Delhi. Neglected by society and forced to beg on the streets for food, these children have found unwavering support in Arbind Prasad Verma, the founder of Nav Samaj Welfare Society. Arbindji and his dedicated team work tirelessly to uplift countless children in these slums.  

“Our NGO is open from morning 9 AM to 3 PM and these children come to us with whatever help they need. Some need help with their homework, some need extra stationery or some just want to enjoy the company of their beloved teachers - we are always there for them. This is one big family,” - Arbind Prasad Verma. 

Nav Samaj started their first classes under the open sky now they’re educating more than 60 kids  

Arbindji gets nostalgic when you ask him what made him start this organisation. Years back, when Arbindji was travelling past the slums of Rajokri Pahari, he noticed many children rummaging through garbage.  

“The clothes on these kids were ripped and barely covered them. They didn't even have slippers. Their faces were thin and tired, and I could tell they were hungry. I wondered why they weren't in school. My friend said the closest school was too far for them to walk every day. Instead, they picked up trash for some money, just enough to buy food for their family.” 

Arbindji started the Nav Samaj Welfare Society in 2003 and got it registered in 2009. The NGO aims to give countless underprivileged kids a chance at a happier and healthier childhood. At present, 60+ children come to their school every day. They are taught with love and patience and encouraged to study further. Besides that, they’re fed healthy, nutritious meals

“These kids haven't had much in their lives, so a simple hot meal makes them really happy. Sometimes, there's even leftover food. We put it in containers so nothing goes to waste, and another hungry child gets to eat nutritious food. It's a small way to make a big difference."

Nav Samaj wants to give these slum children the future they deserve. They not only educate them, feed them, and give them uniforms and stationery but strictly monitor their progress and help them study further. For the last 20 years, Arbindji has been running this organisation with his savings and donations from kind souls.  

“But it is getting difficult with more and more children joining in. We want to give hundreds of children a brighter future but it’s impossible without your help. You can donate groceries and stationery and support our mission.”
