Rath Yatra Anna Daan, Support a Pilgrim’s Journey
Project
One such festival is the famous Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra, also known as the Festival of Chariots, which is believed to be the world's oldest and largest chariot procession. Pilgrims and devotees, driven by unwavering faith, undertake long journeys to witness and participate in the grand procession of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. But behind this sea of devotion, there is a quieter struggle. Many pilgrims, driven by faith, travel for days with little more than hope in their hearts. They often arrive hungry, exhausted, and unable to afford a simple meal.
The Gauranga Seva Foundation wants to ensure that these pilgrims are not just spiritually fulfilled but also physically nourished
Every year, millions of pilgrims from every corner of the country and beyond travel to Puri, Odisha, to witness the majestic journey of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. The sight of the massive, brightly decorated chariots rolling through the streets is unforgettable. For many devotees, touching the sacred ropes of Lord Jagannath’s chariot is believed to wash away a lifetime of sins and bring blessings for generations.
For over 15 years, Gauranga Seva Foundation has been a pillar of hope in Odisha, serving over 13 crore meals to the hungry, supporting orphanages, schools for the visually impaired, and families affected by natural disasters. Their mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that no devotee goes hungry during their sacred journey.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of more than 4,000 donors, thousands of pilgrims received nourishing, freshly prepared meals during the Rath Yatra. The impact was immediate—smiles, gratitude, and the strength to continue their spiritual quest.
But the need is even greater this year. With millions expected to attend, the Foundation is preparing to serve lakhs of meals. From sourcing fresh vegetables and grains to cooking and distributing food, every step requires dedication, resources, and the support of people like you.
“By giving a meal, you are not just filling a plate—you are giving a pilgrim the strength to keep going, the comfort of being cared for, and the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves.”— Mukund Prabhuji, Gauranga Seva Foundation.
