Help Shankar Feed Healthy Meals To 400+ Mentally Challenged Residents Of His Ashram.
Project
Shankar’s cousin was intellectually challenged. A few minutes of staying unsupervised caused his death and this incident shook Shankar to the core. He quit his job in Mumbai and decided to start an ashram to help the homeless, the underprivileged and the mentally challenged in Choutuppal, Nalgonda, Telangana.
About the Ashram
Amma Nanna Anada Ashramam is an NGO that was established in 2010. They work to build a stronger nation where every individual is both psychologically & physically sound and at least have the bare minimum to survive.
The ashram provides them accommodation, fooding, medication & nurturing facilities. They empower them to live as normal human beings & view the world with a positive lens. They plan to give each and every homeless beggar a place to call their own.
“We get calls from the police and they come and hand over these helpless people to us. We do our best to take care of them. Some of them are covered with filth and maggots, we give them a bath, cut their matted hair and provide them with basic medical care. If after a while, they recall their family members’ names or phone numbers, then we arrange for them to go back home. Or else they stay with us, as family members. We are now home to 400 such men and women who are mentally challenged, old and have been abandoned by their families,” - Shankar.
Shankar needs your help to take care of its residents
Shankar has been using his own savings for running the ashram but more often than not it falls short of the expenses. So he used to depend on donations from kind donors. But the pandemic has stopped all that and now Shankar is struggling to look after the residents.
“Around 79 of them have tested COVID-positive as well. We need to take good care of them as well. Besides the medical needs, we need to give them good and nutritious food. But it is getting hard for me to afford their meals. I need your help, please help us by donating grocery kits.”
Even a small contribution from your side will make a huge difference. With your help, the residents of Amma Nanna Anada Ashrama will lead happy and healthier life.
