"Losing a child is the most heart-wrenching experience. I lost my first child before she could even come into this world…I was 5 months pregnant, and the pain was indescribable. Now 13 years later, we find ourselves in a similar place. Our premature twins were whisked to the NICU. One baby girl has improved, but we're fighting desperately for the other. I can't bear the thought of losing another child. We've waited so long for them. Will I ever get to hold her in my arms?"
Manisha Chavan is overwhelmed by the fear of never bringing both their twins home together. Ajit tries to comfort her, assuring her that their newborn is closer to recovery than she ever was. But deep down, he knows it's not that simple. Without continued NICU care, they could lose one of their precious twins. The uncertainty is heartbreaking for them both.
Their 13-Year Wait To Become Parents Turned Tragic
It was a Saturday morning when Manisha woke up with a sharp pain in her stomach. As contractions began, she urgently called out to Ajit. Together, they hurried to the hospital, where they received the unexpected news that their twins were arriving much earlier than expected. The mixture of fear and anticipation gripped their hearts at that moment.
"When our baby girls arrived, they were premature, underweight, struggling to breathe and quite fragile. The doctor explained that the NICU was their only chance at survival. In an instant, our hopes and dreams came crashing down. We had waited 13 long years for this moment, and we never imagined it would unfold this way." - Ajit Chavan
Now, the twins are 13 days old, and one of them has finally been able to leave the hospital. However, their other baby girl, who has struggled with low birth weight and breathing problems, underwent a challenging laparotomy procedure to address a digestive issue. This is a surgical procedure where a large incision is made in the abdominal wall to examine the organs inside the abdomen.
While she is still on her journey to recovery, she needs to stay in NICU care for the next 20 days. This is the only way for the little one to make it through.
However, With Piling Medical Bills, These Parents Are Helpless
Since the birth of their twins, Ajit and Manisha have already spent close to 4.5 lakhs on medical treatment. This financial burden is overwhelming, especially considering Ajit's employment with a small company in Pune, Maharashtra. To make matters more challenging, Ajit has used up all his savings in this desperate effort to save their precious babies.
“The bills are in thousands every day. They’re just piling up, and I’ve run out of everything I had to afford our baby’s treatment. I can see how worried Manisha is and I just want to make it all okay. I want to take our baby home so that she can finally be with us and her sister. Our family can be complete.”
