Join This Doctor On Wheels Bringing Care And Hope To 5,000 Abandoned Elderly

In September 2019, a 29-year-old  from Madurai turned a humble van into a mobile care unit. That’s when Dr. Swaminathan began a mission to bring care and comfort to elders in their own homes.

“I once saw an elderly lose his life simply because he couldn’t afford treatment. That moment changed me. I wanted to ensure that no elder is left helpless and that everyone, regardless of their background, can receive the care they need, right at their doorstep,” shares Swaminathan.

For over five years, Swaminathan has been driving tirelessly across Madurai, spending 20-25 minutes with each elder, offering not just care but also companionship. Starting with just eight individuals, his initiative now supports over 5,000 elders, many of whom had nowhere else to turn.Over the years, he has helped 700 people recover.

“He is like family to us. He treated my 90-year-old mother with so much love and patience. Today, she’s back on her feet,” says Janakiraman, a grateful son.

Earlier this year, Swaminathan opened a center to help elders. It now supports 80 elders bringing relief to countless families.
