    Project

Global Relief Activities of Poor and Ecumenical Society (GRAPES) is a secular grass root level social service voluntary organization established in 2004 under the provisions of the societies registration act, 35 of 2001. The organization was formed with the cooperation of dedicated social workers and an enthusiastic service-minded group with a view to helping the helpless rural poor community, and tribals through various developmental activities.

The birth of GRAPES is a response, indeed an emotional one to the problems of illiteracy, ignorance, ill health, malnutrition, disaster & rehabilitation, unemployment, and inadequate medical and educational facilities that were widely prevalent in backward villages in the Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, South India. Hence the organization was formed with no profit motive and was dedicated to solving the identified problems.

    About The Cause:

Recent pandemic badly hit every. unexpectedly, they are living in the rainwater now. Leakage huts, full of darkness, no electricity, lack of food, lack of drinking water, no works, and no penny.

The cyclone named ASANI brought the great tragedy. Very heavy rainfall occurred in Andhra Pradesh. The villages in singarayakonda Mandal (maximum rainfall 302.2 mm), prakasam district were badly affected. Some villages are still in darkness without power.

Cyclone Asani is barreled towards north coastal Andhra Pradesh, packing a wind speed of 85 km per hour. People who have been rendered homeless, have not only lost their homes but also their livelihoods. They will now have to start life literally from scratch.

    Humanitarian Needs:

As per the preliminary report received from the assessment team grounded in the field, there is a dire need for food rations to sustain affected families who are displaced and lost everything due to cyclones.

They will need food and household needs. People are suffering from a lack of food supply, clothes, milk for the children, candles, napkins, medicines, and other essential supplies. Asani Cyclone hits the roof of the thatched hub and tiled roof of the poor and marginalized houses. Hence, we propose to provide food and non-food items to the people in the most affected areas.

    Target Area:

Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh, South India.

(Villages are: Appapuram (86), Typhoon Shelter (46), Anjaneya Nagar (48), Thataiah Colony (53))
