Help Doon Animal Welfare Give 1500+ Abandoned Cows The Love And Respect They Deserve

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

The hilly regions of Uttarakhand are a sight to see. People from all over travel to this beautiful state to take in the fresh air, visit some of the holiest places and find peace of mind. Unfortunately, these same hills can be dangerous for those who can’t speak for themselves - helpless and abandoned cows. With monsoon setting in, they’re at a higher risk of meeting with accidents and getting injured. However, the Doon Animal Welfare Diety Dham Gaushala is their saving grace. Come rain or shine, the people here work tirelessly to give these cows the love and respect they deserve.

“Just a few days ago, due to the rains, a cow had met with an accident 300 km away. She was up on the hills and a tourist vehicle saw her. We have one ambulance and had to bring her all the way to our shelter to give her timely treatment. Luckily, she survived and is undergoing procedure as we speak,” - Acharya Santosh Khandu

Sadly, They’ve Been Struggling Ever Since The Pandemic

Doon Animal Welfare Diety Dham Gaushala is a shelter in Dehradun, Uttarakhand is home to more than 1500 abandoned and injured cows looked after in three gaushalas across Dehradun. Here, they’re not only fed and given shelter but also provided first aid and medical attention.

“What started with just 5 cows in 2016, has now grown to over 1500+ cows. We take in non-milking cattle, many of whom have been abandoned after they’ve been used for commercial purposes. We also take in injured cows, who are found in such terrible conditions, it’s truly heartbreaking! We get almost 20 cows who are victims of road accidents every single day. Vehicles are unable to see them at night and during the rains, and these helpless animals end up getting hurt. Here, we're able to help them recover and give them a second chance at life."

However, owing to the ongoing pandemic, the gaushala hasn’t been able to receive the kind of support and donations they need. They’ve struggled to meet their fodder and medicine needs over the last year and have gone above and beyond their means to continue feeding these cows and giving them the best life. Now, they can’t do it on their own any longer.

Without Your Help, They Can’t Continue Feeding Them

“We need to get fodder from other states, and over the last couple of years, the cost of fodder has gone up significantly. We just can’t afford it anymore. If we don’t get help soon, we won’t be able to feed our 1500 cattle here. We don’t want to see them starve and in pain. We need your help urgently.”

Doon Animal Welfare Diety Dham Gaushala now needs your help to get fodder and medicines for their helpless cattle. They’ve overcome many hurdles to be where they are today and without your support, it would have all been for nothing. Let’s come together and help this gaushala give cows the respect they deserve.
