As torrential rains continue to lash Uttar Pradesh, several rivers have surged beyond their danger marks, triggering widespread flooding across the region. Over the last few weeks, the state has witnessed a heart-wrenching toll on human lives. The State's relief commissioner reported a total of 42 fatalities already with many more stranded and missing.
The consequences of the floods have been tragic. With rising water levels threatening lives, homes, and livelihoods, there’s an urgent need to provide relief and support to countless people who’ve been impacted by this disaster.
Several Districts In UP Have Been Ravaged By Flood Waters
The recent heavy rainfall has left a trail of devastation in its wake. In Badaun district, the Ganga River surged above the danger mark at Kachla Bridge, while in Muzaffarnagar district, the Yamuna River posed a similar threat at Mavi. Additionally, the Sharda River in Lakhimpur district teetered close to the danger mark at Paliyakala. These alarming water levels have led to widespread flooding in numerous villages and urban areas.
Saharanpur district has been hit hard, with 92 villages and 16 urban localities submerged in floodwaters. In response, the district administration swiftly moved 512 individuals to flood shelters, providing them with a safe haven from the rising waters. In Muzaffarnagar, two villages faced flooding, and 200 residents were evacuated to flood shelters as a precautionary measure.
