After Uttarkashi, Another Cloudburst Hits Chamoli. Hundreds Feared Trapped Under Debris
Project
On August 22, 2025, a devastating cloudburst tore through Tharali in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. In minutes, torrents of water, mud, and debris swept across the town, burying homes, shops, and vehicles under rubble. Families fled in panic as the flood engulfed the marketplace and residential areas. At least one woman has lost her life, and one man is missing after being swept away. In Sagwara village, a young woman remains trapped under debris as desperate rescue efforts continue.
“We were asleep when the roar came. In moments, our houses were under water and stone. We barely escaped,” recalls a survivor from Tharali. Roads are blocked, bridges damaged, and entire stretches of the valley cut off. NDRF, SDRF, and local teams are working tirelessly, but continuous rainfall and heavy debris are making operations extremely difficult. The IMD has issued an orange alert, warning of more intense rain in Chamoli and surrounding districts.
Our Relief Work in Uttarkashi
Just weeks ago, during the Uttarkashi cloudburst on August 5th, with the support of our donors we were able to reach hundreds of families who had lost everything overnight.
Distributed over 1,000 fresh meal packets to stranded survivors
Provided shelter kits with tarpaulins and blankets in temporary camps
Delivered safe drinking water and hygiene supplies in cut-off villages
Rushed emergency medical aid to the injured and elderly
This impact was possible only because of your generosity. Today, Chamoli needs us the same way Uttarkashi did.

- Choose the financial year for which you'd like the donation certificate
- Click on ‘Download 80G Certificate’

For example: if you made donations between April 2023 and March 2024 (FY 2023-24), you will get your 10BE by 31st May 2024, provided you need to claim the 80G for these donations.
Please note that you cannot claim 80G for donations made between April 2022 and March 2023 (FY 2022-23) anymore as the window for claiming it has closed. However, you can still get the 10BEs for that year if you made 80G claims on or before 31st July 2023.
