Break The Stigma Around Sex Workers’ Children By Joining Hands With SPID & Giving Them A Better Life

A fair chance is all they’re asking for 

Roshni’s story goes a long way to prove that with the right kind of guidance, love, and care, underprivileged kids too can go a long way. They deserve a chance, just like every other child and SPID is working for the last 20 years to make a difference in the lives of s*x workers and their children. Currently, their shelter homes are safe havens for 100 children. 

“There is so much stigma and discrimination associated with s*x work. They don’t even have basic rights and their entire life is filled with pain and suffering for no fault of theirs. We at SPID have opened our doors to the children of the s*x workers who would have otherwise been forced to live in horrific conditions. We give them proper healthcare, a nutritional diet, and an education to help them stand on their own feet,” - Ms. Lalitha S.A, Vice-President, SPID. 

In 2004 a group of young and like-minded people joined hands and formed SPID with the goal to serve the needy. Since then, SPID has been working in underdeveloped rural and urban areas. While they are headquartered in Delhi, they also work out of 5 districts in Uttar Pradesh.

They focus on strengthening the local governing bodies in order to empower communities irrespective of their caste, creed, and religion. Together with government and non-governmental organisations and generous donors across the globe, they’re building a more inclusive world.

About the NGO: Founded by a group of like-minded individuals in 2004, the Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID) has been working actively in rescuing and rehabilitating s*x workers and their children. They’re headquartered in Delhi but also function in 5 districts in Uttar Pradesh. They aim to build a  more inclusive world by empowering the marginalized.
