They’ve Spent Their Childhood Fighting Addiction, You Can Give Them Hope Again
Project
Ashish and his wife, Puja, believe that every child on the planet has the right to love, care and safety and through Kutumb, they’re giving them this and so much more.
After graduating from Kanpur Medical College in 2000, Ashish joined Mahila Chetna Samiti Substance Rehabilitation in Varanasi. It was at this de-abuse centre that he met Puja. One day a news coverage spoke about abuse among children at the railway station and Ashish and Puja soon found out that these children had no families.
“It hurt us so much to see them like this. They were so young and had their whole lives ahead of them. We knew we had to do something. In 2002 we found out about three children who needed a home, and that’s where it all began. Our family kept growing after that. We’ve rehabilitated over 50 children so far and it makes us so happy to see how they’ve turned out.”
“She’s an inspiration to so many. This just proves that we shouldn’t give up on these children. There’s so much hope for them. We currently have nearly 50 children, all of whom have recovered from their abuses and are getting the food, shelter and education they need here.”
You Can Be A Ray Of Hope For These Innocent Kids
Ashish and Puja have seen their fair share of struggles. During the pandemic and lockdowns, they struggled to get even the most basic essentials for these kids, and the fear of them getting the virus loomed large. However, they’re slowly getting back on their feet again and they need your help to give these children hope again.“We need support to get groceries, hygiene kits, medicines and mattresses for the children. They’ve already suffered mentally and physically, have been forced to do odd jobs and spent a large part of their childhood fighting abuse. They now need us to believe in them.”
About the NGO: Started by Ashish and Puja Singh in 2002, Kutumb is a foundation in Uttar Pradesh that rehabilitates young children addicted to substances. At Kutumb, all the children’s needs are looked after as they’re given food, shelter and an education. They have helped rehabilitate over 50 children so far.
