90 HIV+ Kids Have Found A Loving Home Thanks To This Dedicated Couple, Help Them Save Many More

    Project

In the last 17 years, Datta and Sandhya Bargaje have been a ray of hope to over thousands of HIV+ women and children by giving them respect, love, and the care they deserve. The husband-wife duo quit their jobs and worked closely with famous social activist Baba Amte, and his son Prakash Amte. The Amte’s Lok Biradari Prakalp in Maharashtra was their biggest source of inspiration.

“We saw the dedication and love with which they served the Adivasis, the underprivileged, and those who had no one to look after them. Sandhya and I wanted to do something similar, to bring a positive change in the lives of the HIV+ people,” - Datta Bargaje, Founder, Infant India.

And that is how Infant India was born in 2006 in Beed, Maharashtra.

With open arms, Datta and Sandhya have welcomed all those in need of support

Datta and Sandhya Bargaje saw the pain and suffering of those orphans who are HIV+. After the death of their parents, their own family members were not ready to look after them. The fear and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS stopped them from giving these innocent children the childhood they deserved.

“These children have been suffering due to no fault of their own. The amount of misinformation and lack of awareness about HIV+ people has hardly made things easy for them. To this day, these kids are not welcomed in schools, parks, and even family functions. Is this a way to live? We wanted to change that.”

What started with just 3 HIV+ kids, is now home to 90+ children who are being given the best care. Datta and Sandhya treat them like their own children. They look after their nutritional needs, give them timely medicines, encourage them to practice yoga, and shower them with the love they never got. Many of them have been married off into happy families while others have pursued higher education or joined respectable jobs.

The Bargajes work with several schools and colleges where they spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and how society can support them.

“These kids are like my family, we eat and enjoy ourselves together. I want to practice what I preach and show the world that HIV/AIDS doesn’t spread through touch. The only thing that spreads is kindness and love.”

You can support this dedicated couple in their noble mission

These 90+ kids are always in need of nutrient-rich food, dry fruits, and fresh vegetables. Their condition makes them immunocompromised and it is absolutely essential for them to have the right kind of diet. Infant Home tries its best to give them all that and much more. The kids also require medicines and hygiene materials for a healthy and comfortable lifestyle. Datta and Sandhya Bargaje request all of you to come forward and support these children by donating groceries and hygiene products.

“They have faced a lot of challenges - they deserve happiness and love. You can help us give them a better future.”

About the NGO: Inspired by the social service of Baba Amte and Prakash Amte, this well-meaning duo in Maharashtra have dedicated their lives to the care of HIV+ kids. Infant India is a safe home to 90+ orphans, Datta and Sandhya Bargaje are striving hard to give them a better future.

For example: if you made donations between April 2023 and March 2024 (FY 2023-24), you will get your 10BE by 31st May 2024, provided you need to claim the 80G for these donations.
