Parents To 100+ Underprivileged Kids In Rural Gujarat, This Couple Needs Your Help To Transform Many More Lives

    Project

When you ask Mahendra about the struggles in the remote and tribal villages of the Dang district in Gujarat, he speaks honestly: "These people starve for days."

"They don’t have access to clean drinking water or nutritious food. How can they give their kids a better life?" Mahendra adds. He explains that they often end the lives of newborn girls or marry them off very young. This is the harsh reality of their poverty, hunger, and deprivation.

Mahendra and Parvati have been transforming hundreds of lives for the past eight years. These children, abandoned by their families, beg for food and sleep on the streets. Their lives are nothing short of a nightmare. This kind couple fills their lives with hope and happiness.

Mahendra and Parvati are mother and father to over 100 children today

Born into the Bhil community, Mahendra understands the struggles, discrimination, and suffering this tribal community faces in India. Having worked extensively with them, he has always wanted to empower his people.

“There are no proper jobs for them. They earn a meager income working in sugarcane fields or travel to different states in search of better opportunities. Their children are left behind with no one to care for them. We have kids who didn’t even know their mothers had died, and these starving children were trying to wake them up. Such is the deplorable condition they live in.”

In 2016, Mahendra and Parvati started a school, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, with just a tin shed for a roof. Today, they are parents to 100 children. To them, these children are family. Even when their own parents forget to visit, Mahendra and Parvati shower them with affection, wipe their tears, feed them warm, nutritious meals, and educate them.

Many of them are first-generation learners, and seeing them study with so much enthusiasm gives me hope for the future of the tribal community,” says Mahendra.

He believes that education is the only way to help these children stand on their feet. He does all he can to keep this school running and to encourage the children to follow their dreams.

But the challenges are many and your help can bring much-needed relief

Mahendra explains that in these remote villages, donations are rare and unpredictable, while the needs keep growing. Despite Mahendra and Parvati's wish to help more children, their limited resources are a big worry.

"These kids deserve so much, but we’re struggling. Please, we need your help to change their lives. We urgently require groceries, hygiene supplies, and stationery. We also need a car to take the kids to the nearest hospital, which is over 15 kilometers away."

Your donation can make a huge difference. Help these children live a happy and healthy life. Donate now and bring hope to their lives.

About the NGO: Eight years ago, Mahendra and Parvati, a couple with a dream and a mission to uplift hundreds of marginalised children, founded Saraswati Vidya Mandir under the Swadarshan Charitable Trust. They envisioned a brighter future for the children in the remote Dang district of Gujarat. Today, they care for over 100 children, ensuring they have nutritious meals, quality education, and a nurturing environment. Mahendra and Parvati are dedicated to providing these kids with the opportunities and support they need to pursue their dreams and build a better life.
