She Left Her Home In The Netherlands To Serve Gaumatas In Vrindavan, Support Chintamani Mataji Today

    Project

Situated in Vrindavan, one of the holy cities of India, and spread over 5.5 acres, Care for Cows is a safe home to over 310 cows and bulls. Here they’re taken care of with utmost love and affection -  the sick and injured are given proper medical treatment, and those suffering from malnutrition are given a nutritious diet. This gaushala was founded by Kurma Rupa Prabhu around 1999 when he moved from the USA to Madhuvana Colony in Vrindavan. A devout ISKCON devotee, Prabhuji started feeding the cows in and around the colony. He continued this noble work till 2015 when he passed away and since then his disciples are taking care of animals in the gaushala.

Chintamani Mataji, one of the foremost disciples of Prabhuji, is now whole-heartedly on a mission to give countless gaumatas a better life

20 years ago, when Chintamani first visited Vrindavan and Care for Cows, she wasn’t aware of the strong bond she would end up having with the place, the people, and the animals. She was around 18 and was studying in England when she came to India. Always a person with a lot of compassion for animals, Chintamani wanted to work with them all her life, and Care for Cows gave her that opportunity.

“When I first visited the gaushala, it was just 10-15 cows yet I was pleasantly surprised by the care they were getting, especially the ones who have been abandoned or are in need of medical help. Over the years, I kept coming back to Vrindavan - Lord Diety and the innocent cows gave me the most joy! Finally, about 6 years ago, I quit my job and joined Care for Cows as a volunteer,” - Chintamani Mataji.

Originally hailing from the Netherlands, Chintamani found her real purpose in life in Vrindavan, as an ISKCON devotee, tending to voiceless animals and spreading the message of love. Now her life revolves around the 300+ cattle in the gaushala - she feeds them, bathes them, and educates people on how to take care of cows and bulls.

She wants to rescue many more cows in need, you can support her

The best part of Care for Cows is the fact that they take in abandoned, stray cows. This gaushala doesn’t encourage selling cow’s milk or illegal breeding. They provide stray cows hay, flour, fresh grass, medical attention, and a place where they can recuperate from injuries. Chintamani Mataji wants to help many more such cows in need. But for that, she needs your support.

“You can help us by donating fodder and medicine - these animals can’t speak and it is on us to give them a better life. Every donation you make is sure to save many more of these injured and sick animals.”
