Dangerous Floods Have Left Assam Devastated, Hundreds Are In Need Of Urgent Help To Survive

Flood in Assam affected 55+ Lakhs people in 33district and claimed the lives of 139 people. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority 1.75+Lakhs people, including pregnant women and children are still in relief camps.

As you all probably know the flood havoc in Silchar since 20th June 2022 all of Silchar southern Assam's biggest town and the gateway to the there Barak Valley district - has been submerged in water unlike "ever before in its history". There is no electricity, no drinking water, no emergency medical services people are facing huge problems.

About Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (NGO) Cachar, Silchar is a state-level registered non-government organization.  We are especially working on women and child development. As our organization is running 02(two) Shelter Homes i.e Ujjawala Shelter Home for girls and women & Open Shelter Home for Boys at the heart of SILCHAR town.

BARAK VALLEY WELFARE DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY is humanity-based non-government organization, that visualizes creating a society based on justice, peace, and equality irrespective of caste creed and gender.

Barak Valley Welfare Development Society NGO's main motto is to help the people of SILCHAR during this crisis. Almost 3lakh people are affected in SILCHAR food. As many areas of Silchar are still submerged in deep water. We received many calls from the start of the flood after that our team started responding to people and trying to reach out and provide them with any help that was required. We are glad we could reach and help many people in this time of distress. The team of Barak Valley Welfare Development Society has successfully been able to distribute 8000ltr of drinking water, raw materials, grocery items, even cooked food Sanitary napkins emergency medicine, etc. to various lanes and locations of Silchar town. We help people with medical support.
