    Project

I once got a call for a rescue operation. Someone had gouged out the dog’s eye and cut off a limb. She was standing in a pool of blood, her limb lying across her. A human had done that to her. And yet, when she saw me, another human, she was wagging her tail. That’s how precious strays are. They all deserve a sanctuary that can let them live happier lives and keep them from being run over, raped, killed or starved to death. And we are in the process of building one...” – Ditej Garg, Founder, Earthlings Trust.

Their journey started with a young Ditej and Sagarika getting the strays on their college campus vaccinated. 15 years later today, their NGO, Earthlings Trust, is home to 400+ happy dogs. Since the NGO’s inception in 2018, the now married couple has gone on and rescued 800-1000 dogs each year, treated them, cured them and given them a second chance at life.

Ask them for a reason why they do what they do, they’ll give you 4

Reason 1 - Dogs on the street run around sleeplessly to keep warm during cold, wintry nights. Dogs at Earthlings Trust sleep on cozy beds, with blankets, warm coats, a roof overhead, and wall heaters for extra comfort.

Reason 2 - Street dogs survive on garbage to satisfy hunger. Dogs at Earthlings Trust get a clean bowl with rice, pulses, pumpkin, spinach, and dog food - filled with nutrients.

Reason 3 - Street dogs sleep in the fear of being run over, beaten up, or hushed away. Earthling Trust pups enjoy the freedom to run around, bask in the sun and go to sleep knowing they will wake up safe and sound, tomorrow.

Reason 4 – Strays are prone to worm infestations, diseases, and malnutrition. Earthling Trust’s rescued strays receive proper medical care ensuring their good health.

We want this life for every stray out there. They deserve it, don’t they?” - Sagarika, co-founder, Earthlings Trust.

They uprooted their lives to give a better life to hundreds of voiceless dogs

Keeping animals within the city comes with objections from people. As a result, Ditej and Sagarika had set up Earthlings Trust on the outskirts of Delhi NCR, around Yamuna River. But in 2023, a deadly flood destroyed everything they’d built since 2018. They were forced to witness some dogs drown right before their eyes even as they struggled to save them. The incident marked the beginning of their resolve to set up a permanent sanctuary for their dogs.

We have purchased land in the outskirts of Chandigarh to build a sustainable sanctuary so our dogs can breathe unpolluted air, drink uncontaminated water and have ample space to run around. We want to accommodate more dogs. Each dog will have an individual kennel. There will be proper medical facilities and everything they need. But it’s not something we can pull off on our own…” – Ditej shares.

Help Earthlings Trust build a safe community for all strays

The couple has spent more than a crore in acquiring the land for the shelter and now they need your support with construction materials, a large vehicle to rescue many more dogs in need and lastly, regular medicine supply to cater to every dog’s needs. With a little help from you, thousands of dogs can get a chance at a happier life. Donate now.
