Eureka Toy Joy Drive: Let a child experience unforgettable joy, donate a toy

Children in tribal villages have no learning materials , resources or toys. Noticing 1-year old Sakthivel playing with a pet rat and using it as a pull–along toy, our volunteers started a campaign to collect and donate toys for children, particularly in tribal villages.

Now Sakthivel and his friends each have at least one toy to play with. There are lakhs of children in the most backward villages without toys.

Who can forget the simple joys of our childhood - playing with toys! Be it a board game, a miniature kitchen set or a simple plastic doll, toys have given us much pleasure, not to mention their contribution to our cognitive and emotional development. We attach much emotional value to even those toys we barely remember, because playtime was pivotal to our growing up.

With the growing economic disparity between people, our AID INDIA team has repeatedly come across many villages where children do not have toys. Shockingly, some of these children grow up with almost no exposure to even simple toys that we take for granted.

AID INDIA endeavors to make toys accessible to thousands of children all over rural Tamil Nadu. We're hoping to reach 1 lakh children through this drive. We hope this drive increases our sensitivity to the circumstances that poverty-ridden families face. This year, gift these children a memorable childhood and help create a more equitable society.

Toys may have come a long way from a few years back, but the joy they give has remained unchanged. Take part in this initiative and contribute toys.
