“When I found out my child has Autism, I took it as an opportunity to learn, grow and realise my strength to do what it takes to give my child the best life possible. There was so much stigma around children with special needs, and there continues to be. But I knew I had to do something to help other children with similar challenges too. It was my responsibility” - Ambika Takalkar, Founder, Aarambh Society For Autism And Slow Learners.

And ever since then, Ambika Takalkar hasn’t looked back. In 2011, she started Aarambh  Society For Autism And Slow Learners in Aurangabad to provide quality special education, therapy and vocational training to children with autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that impacts child development in key areas such as communication, social interaction, and repetitive patterns of behavior. For years now she’s been giving people with autism a better life and the support they need.

Ambika Aims To Give Every Person With Autism A Better LifeAarambh Society For Autism And Slow Learners is the first autism center in the Marathwada region. They provide quality education and vocational training to autistic children and adults with the help of various advanced therapies. They also conduct workshops for the special children’s parents. Ambika Takalkar, founder and director of Aarambh, believes that every person with autism should receive the education and support they need, and a community where they are accepted and celebrated.

“My journey began when I started working as a volunteer at the Indian Navy Special School. I then completed my degree in Special Education from Bhoj University and continued doing courses from different cities to understand autism better. After that, I decided to start Aarambh. However, there were no facilities for children in Aurangabad, and I had to start everything from ground zero. We had only two students back then.”Today, they have over 67 students who have autism and are getting the training and education they need and deserve. With over a 100 volunteers, Aarambh continues to work relentlessly for the betterment of people with special needs.

You Can Support Their CauseFor Aarambh to continue their work and help as many people as possible, they need your support.
