Trupthi Free Meals for the Unsupported Elderly in Mysuru City, Karnataka State.

Akshaya Aahara Foundation (AAF) is a not-for-profit  food rescue organization. We pick up freshly prepared surplus food from  Wedding Halls, Social functions, Birthday Parties, and, sometimes from households,  and redistribute this safely to serve the hungry, unsupported Elderly, homeless and  low income communities.

We have been doing this Food Rescue activities, for the past 9 years, since year 2012.

Now, due to Covid 19 problems, social functions have reduced, hence surplus food collection has gone down.

But due to Covid 19 pandemic, presently, there are too many people who are not able to afford one good meal every day.

As part of our Covid-19 relief efforts, we have begun the  Trupthi  Free  Meals Project for the unsupported Elderly, homeless persons, jobless daily wage workers and migrants, low income communities in the city of Mysuru, Karnataka State. 

We are also serving cooked food to about 22 poor families who are in Home Isolation due to their being Covid Positive.  More requests are pouring in on a daily basis.

We pack the cooked food in aluminum foil pouches for home delivery purposes.  When food is served at our Free Food Kiosk, we use banana leaves, or paper plates to serve food.  Presently, we are serving around 1200-1500 meals every day,  in different parts of Mysuru city.  Our daily routine of food distribution starts at 10-30 AM.  We have 3 food distribution vans for this purpose.

We serve ready to eat food  like  Ragi Mudde/Balls(finger millet preparation), Rice + Sambar, Vegetable Pulav, Lemon/Tamarind Rice,  Bisebele Bath, Chapati + Cooked vegetables, etc.

Many other households also pool in their fresh food preparations with us, while we distribute them at different locations in and around Mysuru city.
