Story of the changemaker
There is tremendous respect in India and even abroad for handloom. However, no one talks about the plight of weavers. Handloom, many believe is a dying art form thanks to the declining income and demand. The few people who still practice it are now very old.
The weaver community in Kappaladoddi, Diety district in Andhra Pradesh are now struggling to survive. It's too late for them to learn another skill at this age. Also, they're not physically capable of working the way they used to.
No one in their old age should have to suffer this way. These people have restored an ancient and important Indian practice. It's time to give them their dues. Please consider helping them during this difficult time. You can choose to donate sarees or essential food items. These will be distributed among 50 families in the area.
