Join Manju In The Rice Bucket Challenge To Feed Thousands During The Second Wave
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
While the last few weeks have been tragic, it’s also been a time for the people of India to come together and support each other in any way they can. With individuals and NGOs coming forward to help, there has been a wave of kindness all across the country.
However, while many NGOs are focusing on medicines, masks, oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment, there have been thousands of SOS messages for food as well. The pandemic has left so many people without a source of income, and they’re all struggling to take care of their families. Even a single meal a day is hard to come by for them. Along with the medical equipment, food is also the need of the hour.
Rice Bucket Challenge, started by Manju Latha Kalanidhi, aims to help all those people who are struggling to afford food amid this crisis.
Manju, a journalist, started the Rice Bucket Challenge in Hyderabad after being inspired by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. After studying and researching about rice and the challenges the underprivileged face every day, she decided to donate a bucket full of rice to a daily wager who sells idlis and dosas on a bicycle. She then posted this photograph on Facebook and tagged her friends to continue this challenge. Manju chose rice since it’s the staple food for many in India. Thousands of people in India and abroad took up the challenge and were encouraged to donate rice to someone in need. In the last 5 years, over 2 lakh kgs of rice have been given to the hungry.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Manju has been helping thousands get grocery kits. This year, with the #RiceBucketChallenge2021, she wants to do the same. However, she needs your help.
With your contribution, Manju can give grocery kits to so many people who are struggling to make it through this pandemic. This will allow them to have nutritious meals and ensure they don’t go to bed hungry anymore.
Let’s come together and save the most vulnerable from going hungry. You can be the reason they survive this crisis.
