3-year-old Sandhya has experienced the worst in the last 7 months. She now spends every other day going to the hospital -  injections, medicines and the hospital's four walls have become her life now. Sandhya is only a child, and instead of playing with her younger sister, she’s fighting to survive deadly rare condition.

What Her Parents Thought Was A Fever Turned Out To Be Rare Condition

Sunil and Alaka Pawar have always dreamt of the best for their two daughters. When Sandhya, their first child, was born, they were filled with hope and joy. They had been waiting for this moment for so long, and holding their daughter in their arms made them feel whole again. However, Sandhya was diagnosed with blood rare condition when she was only 2 years old, bringing all their hopes and dreams to a standstill.

“It all began as a fever. She would fall sick often, and we would take her to the local hospital here. But then it started getting more frequent, and she would cry all night. Soon Sandhya stopped eating. That’s when we took her to a bigger hospital in Nashik where she was diagnosed with blood rare condition. I’ll never forget that moment. I remember looking at my wife and breaking down helplessly - we didn’t know how we could save her.”

Sandhya has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), a type of rare condition of the blood and bone marrow. Sunil and Alaka had no option but to start her chemotherapy treatment immediately.

Sunil, a driver, makes around 3,000 rupees a month - an amount barely enough to feed his family of four. He has two young children to look after, and now with Sandhya’s treatment, he has nothing left.
