Auto Raja Has Saved Thousands Over 24 Years, Support Him To Save Many More In Need

Project
The abandoned and the homeless on the streets of Bangalore treat Auto Raja aka Thomas Raja as their guardian angel. Had it not been for him, so many of them would have simply died on the streets of the city without any support or help.
Around 24 years back, Thomas Raja started rescuing the destitutes from the sides of the roads and in 1997 started the Home of Hope under the trust ‘New Ark Mission of India’ with just 13 people in a small garage. Today, it has grown into a residence for nearly 750 members. More than 19,000 people have been rescued and nearly 9000 people have died in peace and dignity because of his efforts. Some 1800 people have also been rejoined with their families.
From a delinquent to a saviour - a journey worth sharing
Thomas Raja didn’t have the ideal childhood. He used to be habitually indulged in theft and petty crimes even until a few decades ago. At the age of 16, he was kicked out of his home for stealing from his father.
He also served time in prison for his behaviour. The near-death experience at the prison was an eye-opener for him. Once out of the prison, he immediately shifted to Bengaluru to make an honest living. The harsh conditions of the prison had put things in perspective for Thomas, and he decided to never cheat again.
“I started working as an auto driver and was content that I was living a normal life. But soon, I could see homeless people by the sides of the roads - suffering and in pain. So many of them were intellectually and physically challenged and had severe diseases like tuberculosis, rare condition, AIDS etc. I couldn’t leave them alone in that horrible condition and that’s how Home for Hope started,” - Thomas Raja, Founder, Home of Hope.
Auto Raja’s undaunting efforts to save the homeless is inspirational
Thomas Raja was in the news a few months back. The reason - he wore a 21 kg iron chain around his neck to signify the weight of injustice that is pulling down hundreds of abandoned souls who now have found a safe haven in his shelter.
“We don’t want people to look down on them and treat them like beggars or homeless. They have a home now. I want to fight for them till my last breath - their own families have abandoned them, I can’t do the same.”
True to his words, he worked relentlessly to give the residents in his Home COVID vaccinations, despite many challenges. His passion and love for these people knows no bounds and that is why he now needs your help to feed them nutritious food and build a new home for many more who need his care and help.
Your support will make a difference
Over two decades of service to humanity has earned Thomas Raja the name that he thought he would never have. People shower blessings on him and treat him like family. Thomas Raja wants to continue this noble work and is urging you to be a part of that journey. You can donate groceries and construction materials to help him feed them and build a new home where the abandoned can live - even a small contribution will make a huge difference.
