Help Ravi Kalra build a Hospital for sick and abandoned old people
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
Project
Sujata Kumar was born and raised in Delhi. She worked as a private school teacher for 25 years. She dreamed of retiring in peace and spending her old age in the company of her grandkids. Her husband passed away 3 years ago. It was all downhill from there. Her two sons took away all her property and abandoned her. With no money and no strength, she had nowhere to go.
Ravi Kalra found her shivering in Delhi's cold winter on a footpath a few months ago. He didn’t think twice before bringing her home. Mr. Kalra has been serving old and destitute people in Delhi for over a decade now. “I feel all of them deserve to live with dignity”, he says.
Kalra’s organization Earth Saviours Foundation houses more than 500 elderly people in need who have been abandoned. Lack of space has always been a huge problem here. The old age home has the capacity to hold only 200 people, it is overly crowded now.
Why do we want to build a sperate medical facility?
“The most pressing problem is that many elderly folks are sick when they come. They carry infectious diseases and there is an urgent need to have a separate building for such people. This will help them heal faster and most importantly will prevent the infection from spreading to the other inmates.” says Ravi Kalra.
Mr. Kalra has dedicated his life towards this cause. His story was also featured on Kaun Banega Crorepati. This gave him the initial nudge to build the medical care unit but he still has a long way to go. Please donate a few construction materials to help him. This unit will help hundreds of sick people. You will help prevent unnecessary suffering.
Ravi Kalra has dedicated himself to improving the lives of abandoned senior citizens, physically and mentally challenged, victimized women, and people suffering from incurable diseases. Kalra can be seen changing bandages, carrying the sick, or feeding those in need at the center.
“I once met a homeless man who I later found out was a Judge. His children stole all of his money and he was left on the street, without having taken a bath for two years,” he explains in a speech he gave last year.
You have a chance to help many such people in need. Some people here have been tortured in unimaginable ways. Ravi Kalra is doing his best to rehabilitate them and give them a second chance at life. Volunteers from the Earth Saviours Foundation rescue and rehabilitate people from the streets at their shelter home in Gurugram for free. “At first, we used to rescue these people ourselves, now the police also bring them to us, the social justice empowerment ministry also gets people admitted at our shelter home,” said Ravi in a conversation with Edex.
Please help Ravi Kalra in his mission. We talk about finding proper solutions to the problems faced by our society. Here is your chance to make a difference, to be a part of the solution.
