Help Gourav Jaiswal, An Educational Activist Feed Thousands of Hungry Families

It’s not every day that you see someone leave a good career behind at a corporate company to help the poor. This is exactly what Gourav Jaiswal did. As a network engineer, Gourav Jaiswal, 23, travelled to various rural areas in the country. One day, he found himself in a political debate near a tea stall in Seoni, a small town in Madhya Pradesh. In all his travels, Gourav learnt that many arguments end in one place, the neglected but important gap in the society - the lack of quality education. He came across many people who equated expensive education with a good education.

“I grew up in Seoni which is one of the most backward districts in the country. I deeply believe that education is the only sustainable development that one can create in society. Following this belief eleven years ago, I started "Agrini" with a mission to provide quality education to every child." said Gourav.

Gourav realised that sustainable change in society can only be achieved through purposeful education. He quit his corporate career and founded Agrini in 2009. Agrini is a non-profit organization that was set up in Seoni with the aim of improving and providing purposeful education to children. 

Gourav Jaiswal and his team at Agrini have initiated some purposeful educational interventions in the last eleven years. They also set up Agrini Public School in 2014 to provide purposeful and quality education to the children in and around the rural villages of Seoni district. 

Through various educational interventions, they have impacted over 20,000 children in the last eleven years. 

The daily wage labourers and migrant workers bore the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. An exodus of hundreds of migrant workers braved a long march back to their homes each day in order to survive. 

Agrini’s team worked actively to provide food and water for over 15,000+ workers. 

Even though the lockdown has ended now, there are still thousands of daily wage workers, farmers, and many more who have lost their livelihood. Many industries, offices, shops, and schools are still closed. These families don’t have any form of savings and have been struggling to put food on the table for their children. 

Gourav and his team at Agrini have helped over 2000+ families by providing them grocery kits and have also distributed more than 5000+ sanitary pads to over 1800+ families. 

However, the need for food is still on the rise. Agrini needs your help to provide grocery kits and help these families feed their children each day. These families don’t have savings like the more privileged folk, they can only eat on the day they work.

About Agrini - Agrini is a non-profit organization set up by Gourav Jaiswal in 2009. It’s an education charity based near the forest area of Pench Tiger Reserve in central India. They began operations in 2009 with the main goal of improving the quality of and access to purposeful and quality education in rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. Over the last 10 years, they have been working to innovate, implement and advocate multiple initiatives to ensure every child receives a quality education.
