More than 25,000 people are benefiting from Agewell Foundation on a daily basisAgewell Foundation is a not-for-profit NGO which has been working for the welfare and empowerment of older persons of India since 1999. Based out of Delhi, Agewell Foundation has set up a network of volunteers spread across India and interacts with older persons on a daily basis through its volunteers’ network. Over 7500 primary and 80000 secondary volunteers spread across 640 districts of India and interacts with over 25000 older persons on daily basis through its volunteers’ network. ![]()
Recognizing the work being done by Agewell Foundation, ECOSOC has granted Special Consultative Status to Agewell Foundation at the United Nations since 2011. It is associated with the Department of Public Information, United Nations (UN-DPI-NGO). Agewell has also been a member of various Working Groups and Steering Committees on Social Sector for three consecutive Five-Year-Plans of the Planning Commission of India since 2002. “Here we try to change the people’s perception of old age, bring about a shift from pity and helplessness to self-confidence and dignity for the elderlies and thereby increase the interactions between the different generations.
