Help Build a Safe Rescue Centre for Trafficked Women

    Project

“I was only 12 years old when I was abducted and sold to a brothel. For seven long years, my life was filled with fear and violence. I was drugged, beaten, restrained, and abused every day. When I was finally rescued and brought back home, I believed I would return to a normal life. But instead, society rejected me. People called me spoiled and a disgrace, and they told my mother to abandon me. I felt broken all over again.”
    Rahima, survivor

Rescue did not end Rahima’s suffering. Returning home brought new pain, rejection, shame, and isolation. With no support system and nowhere to turn, she stood on the edge of being pushed back into exploitation.

That is when Goranbose Gram Bikash Kendra (GGBK) stepped in.

How GGBK Helps Survivors Rebuild Their Lives

GGBK is a grassroots organisation that has been working for over four decades to protect children and women from trafficking and extreme exploitation. What began as a small community effort has grown into one of India’s most trusted organisations in anti-trafficking work.

GGBK does more than rescue. They provide safe shelter, counselling, legal support, medical care, and long-term rehabilitation for survivors who often arrive with nothing but trauma. They work closely with families and communities to ensure survivors are accepted back with dignity and protection.

To date, GGBK has rescued and supported more than 7,000 women and children, helping them reclaim control over their lives.

Through counselling and care, Rahima slowly began to believe in herself again. Today, she is no longer just a survivor but she is a leader. She now travels across communities, spreading awareness, protecting vulnerable families, and supporting other women as they heal and rebuild.

Why Rescue Alone Is Not Enough

“Many people think rescue is the end. But without a safe place, survivors are extremely vulnerable to being trafficked again,” says Subhasree from GGBK.

Without immediate shelter, traffickers often track survivors down, exploiting fear, isolation, and lack of resources to pull them back into abuse.

“In the last seven months, we rescued 12 minors. What shocked us was that three of them were re-trafficked. This is why a dedicated rescue and rehabilitation centre is critical.”

Why GGBK Needs Support Right Now

GGBK is working to expand its rescue and rehabilitation centre so that rescued women can be sheltered immediately—away from traffickers and harm—and given the time and care they need to heal.

The expanded centre will allow GGBK to:

    • Safely accommodate more survivors at once

    • Provide immediate counselling and psychosocial support

    • Create a stable, protected environment for recovery

Your support will also help meet essential daily needs at the centre like nutritious food, groceries, clean clothing, sanitary pads, and basic supplies. These are not just necessities; they restore dignity, safety, and a sense of normalcy to women who have lost everything.

Help Break the Cycle for Good

Rahima’s life changed because someone chose to stand by her when the world turned away.

Your support can ensure that rescued women are not forced back into exploitation, that they are protected when they are most vulnerable, and that they get a real chance to heal and reclaim their futures.

Donate now and help GGBK provide safety, dignity, and hope to survivors who need it the most.
