After giving up all their worldly ties and needs, sadhus set out on a path of prayer and realization. A sadhu neither cares for material things nor his own benefit. Oblivious to thirst, hunger and comforts, these sadhus continue their prayer and service with only God in mind. Come rain or sunshine, they’re unwavering in their faith and belief. Unfortunately, they face challenges to survive every single day.

Compassion Forms The Core Belief Of The Trust

Started by Guruji Sri Babu Sadhu, a mystic, sacred yogi and a humble sadhu, Arutperunjothi Vallalar Charitable Trust in Thiruvannamalai is a non-profit organization dedicated to the teachings of Swami Ramalinga Vallalar. Guruji relinquished his worldly life and came to Arunachala to start his ascetic life, carrying our severe penance. In 1998 he started feeding sadhus and those in need. It’s been nearly two decades now, and he has only impacted more and more lives.

Swami Ramalinga Vallalar lived amidst people, healing and teaching them the principles of spirituality and serving those in need. Compassion forms the core of the Trust, and that is what has kept them going until now.

“We believe that showing compassion to those in need is a virtue, and that begins with feeding people who can’t afford even a single meal a day. Regardless of caste, creed, religion, nationality, and gender, we feed all those who are in need of fresh, healthy meals. There’s so much suffering around us, and the pandemic has only worsened the plight of the sadhus and underprivileged. But we’ve seen great kindness during these times too. We were able to distribute meals, masks, medicines and other essentials to hundreds.”

The Trust currently feeds over 150+ sadhus and people in need every day. They give them fresh breakfast and lunch and ensure that they don’t go hungry ever again. They also look after their medical needs. Guruji also founded Samarasa Suddha Sanmarga Sathya Sangam, a sacred place where people can live collectively and partake in activities such as chanting, yoga, meditation, seva, satsang and devotional gatherings.

Arutperunjothi Vallalar Charitable Trust is founded by Guruji Sri Babu Sadhu in Thiruvannamalai. It is a nonprofit public service organization dedicated to the teachings of Swami Ramalinga Vallalar. The trust runs Sanmarga Sangam which gives space to people where they can live collectively to enrich each other's existence in the path of Suddha Sanmargam. They feed over 150+ sadhus and people in need every day.
