Delivering Happiness On Plate

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

Diwali sweets, Diwali snacks, Diwali love, Diwali joy. It’s that time of the year when gifts full of hope and happiness are being exchanged across the country. Why go to a friends’ party empty-handed when you know exactly where to order that sweet, sweet hamper of the most delicious chocolates! What better way to express love for your parents than a beautiful night of homemade dinner? What do festivals even mean if there isn’t lots of food prep with laughter, and yes, some more food?

But then there is the harsh reality of hunger in India. The truth is, no matter the season, millions of people will sleep on empty stomachs every night in our country. Even on Diwali. Could we help change that? While it would be difficult to solve the larger problem all alone, it should not be difficult for us to join forces and make sure that some people have the blessing of a full table during the festivals.

This Diwali, join The Better India’s #HappinessOnAPlate campaign to help hundreds of families across India celebrate the festivals with the joy of food. To make this possible, we are working with five NGOs dedicated to fighting hunger in the country.

With this initiative, we want to ensure that hundreds of people across the country do not go to bed hungry during the Diwali festival. The cities targeted for the campaign are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad. Once you make a contribution towards this campaign, the grocery kits of similar value will be provided to the abandoned, or children in orphanages and to needy families.

Here are the five NGOs that your contributions will go to:

Khushiyaan Foundation: Khushiyaan, as the name suggests, means 'happiness’ and is committed to delivering happiness to underprivileged humans of the society & environment. Khushiyaan Foundation is officially registered under the Mumbai Public Trust Act, 1950 & Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is formed by a young team under the leadership of Mr Chinu Kwatra. Through its successfully running projects Roti Ghar, Naari Shakti, Beach Warriors and Project Paathshala, it strives to provide quality food, women empowerment and hygiene, cleanliness drives and the gift of education respectively

Deb Kumar Mallick from Kolkata started feeding a handful of poor and abandoned elderly in his neighborhood but soon word spread and now he is the saving grace of 486 people in need. Be it rain or shine, Deb doesn’t miss a single day – he knows these people are dependent on him. He gives them home-cooked meals and ensures that they get their regular medicines too. He is a son to all of them, a confidant in their old ages, and a support system they all crave in their final years.

Davo Sansthan: Dev Goswami, once a truck driver, has dedicated his life to taking care of those who are abandoned and homeless. He has carried out this service of helping the homeless, caring for them, and providing them with food. Now, they have two homes for the homeless in Dwarka and Delhi with over 200 inmates.

Swabhimaan Trust: Conceptualised and ushered in by Venkatraman Iyer and Vijaya Venkat, Swabhimaan, a registered public charitable trust, began its services in 2000. Since then, Swabhimaan has been concerting all its efforts in serving the underprivileged in the neighborhoods of Bangalore like Rajendranagar, LR Nagar, and Neelasandra near Koramangala, Karesandra in Banashankari and Subhashnagar near Electronic City by delivering numerous services. To address the issue of malnutrition and to make the community hunger-free, Swabhimaan runs large-scale grocery distribution drives reaching the doorsteps of a minimum of 2,000 families every day.

Rouble Nagi Art Foundation: Rouble Nagi Art Foundation (RNAF) is a not-for-profit organisation set up with the vision to connect to people through art, bringing a positive change in their mindset. We have partnered with RNAF for the city of Hyderabad, where RNAF is providing vocational training, mentorship programs as well as nutritious meals to 700 orphan children staying at the Victoria Memorial Home Residential School.

We request all our readers and supporters to come forward with their generous support. Your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of those who are in dire need of food and sustenance. By participating in the #HappinessOnAPlate campaign, you have the opportunity to be a source of hope and nourishment for fellow citizens during the festive season. Your generous donations of groceries and food items can truly transform lives and bring smiles to those facing hunger.
