Mother To Hundreds Of Orphans, Manan Needs Your Help To Continue Giving Them A Healthy Life

“It all started with Gauri. I used to distribute stationery, clothes, and food to the kids in the slums when I found her with a severe head injury. She was bleeding so I rushed her to the hospital and didn’t leave her side for three days. No one came forward to look after her, so I took her home to care for her. And that was the beginning of my journey with these children.” - Manan Chaturvedi, Founder, Surman Sansthan

Within a month, Manan had taken in 8 more orphaned and destitute children and over the years, the numbers only increased. Today, 110+ children live at Surman Sansthan in Jaipur, Rajasthan - a loving home for children who have no one to call their own.



Manan Is ‘Mumma’ To All These Orphaned Kids

Surman Sansthan has rehabilitated over 370 children into their families until now. Manan looks after the 110+ children currently at the shelter with the same love and kindness that she does her three biological children.



“We’re committed to rehabilitating every child who has been abandoned, orphaned or has been labeled destitute. My time spent at the slums with these children completely changed my outlook on life. I quit my career as a fashion designer and became a child rights activist. I thought to myself what’s the point was of designing for a few privileged people when there are thousands of thousands who have nothing.”



The Surman family has grown over the years and has infants, toddlers and school-going children. Here they celebrate all festivals together, irrespective of religion, and all their needs are taken care of by Manan - from food and shelter to education and vocational activities. She is their ‘Mumma’ in a true sense.

“Any child that comes to us stays here until they find their original guardians and if they’re willing to take them back. They are all my children and I will do anything to protect them and give them the best possible future.”

Surman Sansthan was started by Manan Chaturvedi after she left her career as a fashion designer and became a child rights activist. She has saved hundreds of children so far and given them a better life.
